Roundtable on “Environment Friendly Techniques in Textile Sector”

Roundtable meetings on “Environment Friendly Techniques in Textile Sector” were organised under the Indo-German Environment Programme (IGEP), at Ahmedabad (Narol), Surat and Jetpur on July 07th, 08th and 9th, 2014 respectively.

The roundtable meetings were organised as a part of the ongoing partnership between the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre (GCPC) and GIZ.  The meetings were attended by the textiles industries, representatives from GCPC, GPCB and GIZ IGEP staff.

The discussions focused on various environmental friendly techniques for the textile industries and those already demonstrated in textiles industries in Narol), and compiling the willingness of the industries for implementation of the relevant EFT measures in the textile clusters in Ahmedabad (Narol), Surat and Jetpur. Technical presentations were made by GIZ IGEP team, while case examples were presented by industries where solutions were successfully demonstrated.

Through group exercises, willingness of the industries to implement various measures was identified, on the basis of which an action plan for implementation will be developed. Good number of industries showed interest to take up trials for implementation of the environmental friendly techniques in their plants in the coming months.
